Jackie Beard Robinson - Montclair, New Jersey, shopping district

Jackie Beard Robinson, co-founder and co-owner of Envy, a fashion boutique, and her business partner, Melissa Gorga, decided to place their business in the heart of the shopping district in Montclair, New Jersey. Keeping it local, Robinson and Gorga are contributing to one of the rising downtown scenes on the East Coast.

In 2015, the National Main Street Center awarded the Montclair Center Business Improvement District one of the “Best Main Streets in America”. This beautiful suburb is home to 175 acres of parks and multiple, recognized examples of historic architecture. Montclair has a highly regarded arts scene and over eighty-five restaurants in a walkable, viable shopping area. The traditional commercial hub runs along Bloomfield Avenue, where Robinson and Gorga have located Envy. At one time, this was a vibrant trolley car area, but it fell into disuse and neglect over time. Montclair has experienced a resurgence in the last few years as the town moves toward revitalization.

Jackie Beard Robinson and Melissa Gorga chose to found Envy at the center of Montclair’s shopping district and be part of the reemergence of the town. Montclair offers multiple art museums, live theatres, libraries, cultural centers, antique shops, and bookstores. Placing Envy in this company was a smart plan on the part of Robinson and Gorga. Offering high-end fashion at affordable prices filled a clear gap in the shopping center of this town. Robinson and Gorga are proud to be small business owners in Montclair, and are off to a successful start with Envy on Bloomfield Ave.
